Launched Tuesday (June 9), IBM’s new community-driven initiative will
enable partner companies to gain real-time access to IBM subject matter
experts to support sales leads and client implementations.
Partners can also create personalized profiling tools to develop online
communities that make their skills visible to other partners. They can
connect with others on new technology innovations and joint sales leads.
The idea is to help them develop and deliver new technologies online
through interactive forums before test-marketing or taking offerings
directly to clients.

Deloitte survey of companies sponsoring
online communities indicates that enterprises have begun to effectively

Of
late, IBM has announced LotusLive, a cloud-based portfolio of social
networking and collaboration services designed for business.
LotusLive.com will serve as a single destination for all IBM Lotus
online collaboration tools, including social networking, e-mail, file
sharing and Web conferencing. It offers to help businesses simplify and
improve the way they interact with their customers, partners, and
suppliers.
HP has already created an online consumer support
community. An online support forum, customer care site,
online classes, and how-to videos are among the components of the
community-centric initiative.
The
Verizon Community Forums encourage
consumers to submit questions, share advice, and get answers about
Verizon's portfolio of broadband, entertainment, and communication
services. For this, Verizon collaborated with Lithium Technologies, an
online community solution provider.
